Happy New Year! Out with 2020, in with 2021.

Most people come up with new year’s resolutions or goals for the new year. But do you know what it is that you’re trying to achieve? I personally don’t like the idea of new year’s resolutions, because of the whole mentality that if you mess up, game over. I instead prefer new year’s goals or themes that encompass those goals.
Too often we come up with these resolutions and goals without taking the time to think about the end result and how it would impact us. Recently I’ve come across Michael Hyatt, a productivity and focus expert, and he had 3 great strategies that I thought everyone could benefit from as we transition into 2021.

  1. Imagine where you want to be at the end of next year. In five years. In ten years. Don’t limit yourself by doubting how you could do it. Just write down what you would want life, your career, your health to look like if you could pick any possibility. Be sure to write down your list as this helps you to really define your vision.

  2. Take time to reflect on how far you’ve come. Look at all that you have accomplished or overcome in the last year or several years. This will give you the confidence to reach for your dreams that may seem just out of reach.

  3. Acknowledge what is at stake. Take the time to really think about what it would mean for you not to fulfill your vision. What would it mean for the people around you? Your family, coworkers, friends? Then, compare that to what it would mean for everyone if you did live out your dream. Taking the time to reflect on both scenarios will help you connect to your why and provide the compelling motivation you need to do the hard work to make it happen.

So what does 2021 look like for you???
